It astounds me the number of customers who decide to be on their phones - texting, surfing or on a call - and completely ignore me and everything I do.  Including putting up the “Let us serve you at another counter” sign.  One customer actually started unloading at an empty counter before realising I was standing at the next one.  Another walked away without collecting his receipt - with his $80 recharge voucher printed on it (it was for my carrier too).

I actually refuse to talk to customers if they are on the phone, and most of my regulars understand that.  The record so far is a full five minutes before the person realised they had to pay - and that was because my regular and I started talking to each other very loudly, and he couldn’t hear himself over us.
